Got Massage?
When’s the last time you had a massage? I know, I know. How are you supposed to squeeze a massage in your busy schedule? I’m not a massage therapist but I am a big advocate of the health benefits of all kinds of naturopathic care like acupuncture, chiropractic care, nutritional therapy, regular exercise and especially massage.
Here’s the thing. Massage is not just an indulgence. You aren’t leaving your responsibilities to run off and do something frivolous (not that there is anything wrong with that!). Unfortunately, that’s how many of us view getting a massage. What many people don’t know is that massage has tons of health benefits and can prevent physical health issues. That’s what I tell my husband when I head off for one. I believe it is more important than doctor visits. I think of massage as a well visit.
The most obvious health benefit that you are probably thinking of is tight muscles, and yes, massage does definitely help with that. In addition though, massage can also help with anxiety, headaches, insomnia, Fibromyalgia and digestive disorders, to name a few. Massage paired with regular exercise can create great circulation of blood, nutrients and oxygen, which is always a good thing. It’s also very detoxifying for your lymphatic system.
I personally think you need to make sure that you get a massage at least once a month. It will keep you feeling healthy, happy and a little less tightly wound. So what are you waiting for? Time for some detox??
Go get a massage! Your health may depend on it!
