Date Night Makeup and Outfit Deets
So out of the blue both my kids ended up at sleepovers on the SAME NIGHT! What? That is certainly a first! Immediately I looked at my husband and thought “where can we go?”
Woo hoo, we’re alone! Of course, as my husband calls it “the curse of parenthood,” as soon as we leave the house, we miss the kids or talk about the kids. In fact, early the next morning, we were like “Let’s go pick up the kids!” We weren’t even out of bed yet, but missed how they come jumping onto the bed, telling us to “get up and make pancakes” on the weekends!
While we were out, we went to a new restaurant and tried out some fancy cuisine, that definitely wouldn’t have been possible with the kids. Then proceeded to act like teenagers and bar-hopped looking for good music to dance to. The whole time, we were thinking, “why are we here?” If the music would’ve been good, maybe it would be different but it’s hard to find good house music on a Saturday night.
All these people are staring around the room looking for a partner, that they can stay home with, watch netflix and chill. When you are single, you go out to bars until you are not. So funny, we couldn’t wait to get home, have a glass of wine and watch a movie. My how your priorities change at 40, but either way, we have fun wherever we are, because we are still in love after 10 years.
However, my priorities with makeup haven’t changed! I love the art and different personalties you can create with cosmetics. I enjoy the process of putting on makeup though I also enjoy days where I don’t. Isn’t it amazing how makeup can give you confidence, just like a great pair of jeans?
For my date night look, I had fun with a green smoky eye and peach lips and cheeks. My top by Olive and Oak was sheer and a seafoam green which inspired a dark smokey eye with subtle green fading in. It was so hot with just a black bra underneath, but lord I can’t leave the house like that now! OK I could if I was a celebrity, but not the mom of two that lives in Weddington, N.C. Ha! Ladies we do what we can to keep it clean! So a black tank had to suffice but you should’ve seen it with the black bra! 🙂 Besides the pants and shoes were enough, so I needed to be a little more subtle with the shirt.
You can’t see my eyes very well, because I obviously cut my bangs in the above picture, right before we went out and pre makeup. I should not be cutting my hair, but the all leather pants were calling for some edgy hair. So I whipped out the scissors and chopped them off. Don’t worry, I’m getting them fixed this week! I even sent a picture to my hairstylist Michelle at Platinum Hair Bar so she could make fun of me. Hey when the mood hits me, I just go with it.
The limited edition skinny leather pants are certainly a splurge at $800 though you could find them on sale for $199 which is what I did from White House Black Market. These babies will be worn for years and were worth every penny even at $800. A staple item like this is worth the money. They fit like a glove and make your legs look incredible, not to mention they are so soft they feel like a babies butt!
The killer shoes were a steal, thank goodness. Jessica Simpson has great taste in shoes and these were a leather upper that felt as soft as calf skin and will be even more comfortable with time. Surprisingly, my feet made it walking around downtown and they certainly make any outfit incredible. You would never know how affordable they are, I think less then $100 especially on sale now. I think it’s smart and thrifty to mix quality with affordability. They came highly recommended by someone as great shoes for standing a long time.

I always enjoy a night out with my love, as we all should do every once in a while. Take time to put on some makeup and enjoy yourself. You only live once and you can sleep when you’re dead! Just don’t have too many cocktails or you’ll be paying for it while you’re making pancakes for the kids!
P.S. Don’t forget the leather leggings,
XOXO

I love this. Nothing beats smoky eyes and leather soft leggings. I love the bangs. I don’t think your hair dresser will ever make fun of that. Great blog….

I got them fixed today, shorter and much more straight lol. But no one noticed in the dark Saturday night! You only live once, I just own it, crooked cut and all! HA!
