Seared Ahi Tuna with Sesame Capellini and Garlic Chili Aioli

IMG_1571

OK so I don’t have a recipe because I NEVER have had a recipe for this incredibly flavorful dish. I can tell you how to make it though because I’ve made it a lot. It is so easy and so impressive when you have guests, though my husband and children love it too. It is a regular occurrence in my house and my husband always says this is his favorite pasta dish.

I have always loved sauces. I would certainly be a saucier if I were going to be a chef. I try to keep enough veggies in my diet to override the lovely sauces I like to eat with them!

This will knock your socks off if you like seared tuna.

So here goes and of course it varies each time I make it.

-Whole grain capellini cooked in salty water until al dente.

-Fresh Ahi Tuna will be seared with either coarsely ground black pepper or sesame seeds. Whichever you prefer. I like to sear it in garlic oil but olive oil will work just fine. It really is better if it is left red in the middle.

-Fresh pea pods are sauteed in fresh garlic and fresh ginger with olive oil.

-Toss the capellini in a blend of olive oil and sesame oil or just sesame oil if you like it. Sprinkle sesame seeds all over the pasta as well as chopped green onions.

-Lay the tuna on top of the pasta and scatter pea pods around the fish.

-Lastly drizzle my made up sauce on top of the fish…YUM! Mix together a combination of sweet garlic chili sauce, fresh lemon, granulated garlic, and mayonnaise. It’s spicy, tangy, sweet, garlicky and oh so delicious on the fish and the pasta.

-I finish it with a sprinkle of Asian rice seasoning that has sesame seeds and seaweed.

It is out of control yummy!

I hope you enjoy as much as my little 3 and 6 year old do!

Eat healthy, eat fresh and don’t forget to eat gourmet, every day!
