Out with the Mold, in with the new You!
Do you have serious snot issues? No really…Are you or your family member coughing all the time? I have been blaming my three year old, for the three years I’ve lived in this house, for why we were always having sinus issues. I’m thinking she’s building her immune system. Plus at preschool she’s catching and kindly bringing everything home to us. Before moving to this house three years ago, we were never sick. As soon as we move here, it starts a consistent sinus problem that never seemed to go away. The kind that keeps you from breathing freely at night through your nose. The kind that makes you cough mucus constantly. The kind that makes you want to take your child out of pre school because “why in the world is someone always sick in this house??” IT WAS MOLD. Our air that we were breathing was making everyone sick. And not only that, but we were tired, drained, irritable, you name it, we felt BAD. Immune system under attack 24/7. Since I work at home and it was worse under my bedroom, I got the mass of it! It was never ending. This is going to sound like a commercial for real. Because I honestly cannot believer how freaking amazing I feel after having discovered we had a severe mold problem and getting rid of it. First of all, the house isn’t that old, 8 years. And it was the builders dream home that he lived in and the economy forced the sale. So why in the world would we suspect there being a drainage and moisture issue under the house? Recently, we had AdvantaClean out to inspect our house for purposes of cleaning the vents and I am SO glad that we made that call! It turns out that we did have mold…and lots of it. Before this point, I never knew how much damage mold can do to your health. The videos below are from my house. Now I felt so strongly that everyone needed this information that my husband and I chose to share our story. And we are not compensated for any of this. Every time I hear someone coughing, I wonder if they have mold. If their kids are snotty, I wonder if they have mold. Mold is a silent and sometimes deadly KILLER! People DIE from mold. I felt like if we could save someone the misery we had gone through then it was worth our time to document and share the life changing story that mold removal can be. Please share and hopefully you will help someone get their life back too. Check out these before and after photos!
So, what is mold? Mold is a common fungus found inside and outside, almost everywhere, year round. Mold grows best in warm, damp environments and multiplies as microscopic spores. It travels through the air, attaching to structures like drywall, flooring and other materials in a home. Once it takes hold, mold in a house can multiply quickly in high humidity surroundings like basements, bathrooms and crawlspaces. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), if you see or smell mold, there is potential health risk and you should hire a professional mold detection company, like AdvantaClean, for cleanup and removal. What causes mold? When tiny mold spores travel through the air and settle, under the right conditions, mold or mildew can multiply quickly, often going undetected, and become a problem inside your home. Mold can grow almost anywhere when moisture is present for an extended period of time. You can control mold growth in a house by: Controlling humidity levels Sealing leaky roofs, windows and pipes Thoroughly cleaning and drying after water flooding Ventilating shower, laundry and cooking areas Where does mold grow? Mold can multiply on most porous surfaces where there is damp stagnant air. While it prefers temperatures above 60 degrees, it can also grow in cold temperatures, which is why it can be found in a refrigerator. Most often, however, it is found in the following places: Wallpaper and drywall Ductwork and ceiling tiles Carpet, drapes and furniture Attics, basements and crawlspaces Books and magazines (anything made of paper or organic material) The effects of mold not only include the potential for structural damage to your home. If you are in the market to sell, undetected mold can dramatically lower the value of your home. Some real estate agents believe the presence of mold can drop the value of a home up to 10 percent. As you can probably guess, after we got the diagnosis of mold, we made the choice to have these two services done: Mold Remediation Air Duct Cleaning Everyone that we worked with at AdvantaClean were professional, friendly and thorough and I have not felt this good in far too long.
