“La Silence du Papillion” Charcoal Drawing
If you didn’t know I speak French, you do now! I also love to draw and ultimately I always see a face. When we go to a restaurant where the tables are covered in paper and they give you crayons for the kids I always pick them up and start drawing an eye. I don’t know why but I do believe the eyes are the window to the soul.
The name of this piece is “The Silence of the Butterfly” in English. It is really about having a voice. A voice that is sometimes silenced by a negaholic, family members, peers, government, it is inevitable that someone will always try to silence you. The key is whether or not you let opinions penetrate you and change your path or whether you take them in stride and keep moving in the direction of your dreams.
You can see his soul in his eyes and he has always been one of my favorite quick little drawings because of the story behind it. I wonder what he is trying to say? I wonder what his voice would sound like? I wonder what he is thinking and dreaming of?
I hope you enjoy peering into his world as much as I enjoyed creating it…
Love and butterflies,
LL
