Life “To Do” List

It’s still January and if you’re like me, you’re still thinking of new positive changes you want to make, new goals, new ideas to transform your life and reach a new paradigm.  We can get really busy, I mean REALLY BUSY with the usual, with the every day.  How often do you take the time to design your life? Have you created a Life “To Do” List?  If you do you’ll be surprised how life gets busy with exactly what you intend.  Don’t you find that when you write it down, it somehow makes it’s way into your experience?

Something I had written down was to go see more shows, ballets, you know, “the arts.”  I am an artistic person and I absolutely love dance. I want my children to experience plays and find something they are passionate about musically or creatively.  I truly believe that finding something children are passionate about is a great way to keep them busy with life instead of being bored and looking for recreation in all the wrong places.

Among many things, like going to bed early and working out daily, this was put on my goal statement.  It’s on my bathroom mirror so that I see it daily and it’s become an image that is burned in my brain.  In order to find local artistic avenues, you need to find out what’s going on where you live, which for me has only been a couple years.  I never really knew what was going on in the city in which I live or how to find out, but I wrote it down.  My schedule was busy with work and having two kids in the past 6 years and moving and everything else that makes the week go by so fast and before you know it, the year.

I needed to connect with my inner being and clarify what my life was really going to be like moving forward instead of eating, sleeping, driving, you know what happens to you when you have 2 under 5.  I wrote it down, thought about it and some time past because it wasn’t exactly the most important item on my list.  But, out of nowhere I started getting notices in the mail and through email. I joined mailing lists, I started finding out what was happening locally because it was something very specific that I had written down and intended.  And this was not at a great expense.  It became affordable, came at just the right time and somehow I knew it was happening and got tickets. This was never the norm for me.  Everything would come and go and I would find out after the fact.  Now it seems I am finding out exactly what my family would enjoy and what we would like to experience a year in advance. All because I decided I wanted a new consistent joy in my life…to have the funds and time available to create memories with my family, experiencing the arts.

It’s hard to have a bad day when you are watching the Nutcracker or Cinderella on stage or the beauty and magic of Cirque Du Soleil with your son for the first time. Or better yet, you and your spouse experiencing Disney through your children’s eyes.  It is a joy that is unmatched and creates memories that last a lifetime. Where will the  money come from to pay for these adventures?  Well, that is not for you to worry about it.  Your job is not to focus on the how but the what.  It will be there when you need it if you expect it to…and have faith… and believe that you are to experience joy.  We don’t all want the same things, my husband thinks ballets are incredibly boring but boy is he excited about the Marvel Universe Live!

Your mission is to be so busy loving your life that you have no time for regret.  So what is on your Life “To Do” List?
